This trek starts off from a beautiful flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Following this scenic experience, we move forward to the ‘entry point of Everest’ Namche Bazaar. Further upwards, is the Tengboche Monastery with mind-boggling views of the icy mastiffs like the Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and the mighty Everest.

 

The trek gets a bit more difficult and highly adventurous when we pass through the azure blue lakes of the Gokyo Region. Passage through the Cho La Pass (5420m) is another moment of pride. Witness the miraculous views of the panorama of the Everest from atop the Kalapatthar (5545m). With the views of ducks swimming in the beautiful blue waters embed deeply in, mind, we move forward to the Everest Base Camo where expeditions can be seen packing up and getting ready to scale the highest peak in the world. Best Season:

The best season for Gokyo Chola Trek is generally considered to be from March to May and from September to November. During these months, the weather is usually dry and the skies are clear, providing excellent views of the surrounding mountains. The temperatures are also relatively mild, making it a comfortable time to trek.

Day 01:

Pick up upon arrival and transfer to Kathmandu Hotel On the first day, you will be greeted at the airport by a representative from the trekking company and transferred to a hotel in Kathmandu. You can rest and relax after your journey or explore the city on your own.

Day 02:

Explore the heritage sites, temples, and monasteries of Kathmandu. On the second day, you will have a guided tour of Kathmandu’s cultural and historical sites, including UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Durbar Square. You will also visit some of the ancient temples and monasteries around the city.

Day 03:

Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding 2700 meters On the third day, you will take a scenic flight to Lukla, which is the gateway to the Everest region. From Lukla, you will start your trek to Phakding, which is at an altitude of 2700 meters. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and passes through small villages and suspension bridges.

Day 04:

Trek to Namche Bazar – 3450 meters On the fourth day, you will continue your trek to Namche Bazar, the largest town in the Everest region. The trail climbs up steeply from the river valley and offers fantastic views of Mount Everest and other peaks in the region. Namche Bazar is a hub for trekkers and climbers, and you can explore the local market and shops in the town.

Day 05:

Acclimatization day – Explore Hotel Everest View and back On the fifth day, you will take a rest day to acclimatize to the high altitude. You will hike up to the Hotel Everest View, which is located at an altitude of 3880 meters and offers panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and other peaks. After exploring the hotel and surrounding area, you will return to Namche Bazar for the night.

Day 06:

Trek to Tengboche Monastery – 3860 meters and 6 hours walk On the sixth day, you will trek to Tengboche Monastery, which is one of the most famous monasteries in the Everest region. The trail passes through beautiful forests of rhododendron and pine trees, and you will have stunning views of the Himalayas along the way. Tengboche Monastery is a spiritual and cultural center of the Khumbu region, and you can witness the monks’ daily prayers and rituals.

Day 07:

Trek to Dingboche – 4290 meters – 6 hours walk On the seventh day, you will trek to Dingboche, which is a small village located at an altitude of 4290 meters. The trail passes through beautiful landscapes, and you will have stunning views of Mount Ama Dablam, Island Peak, and other peaks in the region. Dingboche is a popular stop for trekkers and climbers, and you can explore the village and surrounding areas.

Day 08:

Rest day means explore around On the eighth day, you will have a rest day to explore the surroundings of Dingboche. You can take short hikes to nearby viewpoints or explore the village and its traditional houses and culture.

Day 09:

Trek to Lobuche – 4910 meters – 6 hours walk On the ninth day, you will trek to Lobuche, which is at an altitude of 4910 meters and will take approximately 6 hours of walking. This day will be challenging as the altitude increases and you will need to take breaks to rest and acclimatize.

Day 10:

Trek to Gorekhsheep and continue to Everest Base Camp (5364m) and back Goreksheep for overnight – 7 hours walk – 5180 meters. After breakfast, you will continue your trek to Gorakshep and then to the much-awaited Everest Base Camp, which is at an altitude of 5364 meters. You will spend some time exploring the base camp and taking pictures before heading back to Gorakshep for the night. This will take approximately 7 hours of walking.

Day 11:

Hike up to Kalapatthar (5555m) and trek to Dzongla (4620m) On the eleventh day, you will start your day early and hike up to Kalapatthar, which is at an altitude of 5555 meters. From here, you will get stunning views of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks. After spending some time here, you will trek to Dzongla, which is at an altitude of 4620 meters.

Day 12:

Trek to Thangna (4650m) – 6 hours walk On the twelfth day, you will trek to Thangna, which is at an altitude of 4650 meters and will take approximately 6 hours of walking. This day will offer you some stunning views of the Himalayas and you will have plenty of opportunities to take pictures.

Day 13:

Trek to Gokyo Village (4750 m) – 6 hours walk On the thirteenth day, you will trek to Gokyo Village, which is at an altitude of 4750 meters and will take approximately 6 hours of walking. This village is located on the shores of a beautiful lake and is surrounded by stunning peaks.

Day 14:

Extra explore day in Gokyo – better to reach fifth lake On the fourteenth day, you will have an extra day to explore Gokyo. You can take this opportunity to rest or hike to the fifth lake, which is a popular destination for trekkers.

Day 15:

Hike to Gokyo Ri (5484m) and trek down to Machhermo (4410m) – 7 hours On the fifteenth day, you will hike up to Gokyo Ri, which is at an altitude of 5484 meters. This is one of the highlights of the trek as you will get stunning views of the surrounding peaks from the top. After descending from the peak, you will trek down to Machhermo, which is at an altitude of 4410 meters.

Day 16:

Trek back to Namche Bazaar – 5 hours On the sixteenth day, you will trek back to Namche Bazaar, which will take approximately 5 hours of walking. This day will be relatively easier as you will be descending and the altitude will be lower.

Day 17:

Trek back to Lukla On the seventeenth day, you will trek back to Lukla. This is the last day of your trekking adventure and it will take around 6-7 hours to reach Lukla. You will spend the night in Lukla and enjoy your last evening in the mountains.

Day 18:

Fly back to Kathmandu and rest or shopping On the eighteenth day, you will take a flight back to Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu, you can rest or do some shopping for souvenirs or gifts. You can also explore the city and visit some of the local markets and shops. In the evening, you can enjoy a farewell dinner with your trekking team.

Day 19:

Fly back to home or final departure. On the final day, you will either fly back to your home or have your final departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to explore more of Kathmandu or relax before your departure. Your trekking company will arrange a transfer to the airport and assist you with the check-in process for your flight.
