Best Season:

The best time to trek in the Mardi Himal region is during the autumn season, from September to November, or during the spring season, from March to May. These months offer clear skies and mild temperatures, making for ideal trekking conditions.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

The first day of the Mardi Himal trek is all about arrival and settling in. The trekker will land at Kathmandu airport where they will be welcomed by a tour guide or representative. They will receive all the necessary information regarding the trek, including an itinerary, permits, and gear requirements. After completing the formalities at the airport, they will be transferred to the hotel where they can rest and relax. Day 02: Full Day Tour of Kathmandu Valley

The second day of the Mardi Himal trek is set aside for a full day tour of the Kathmandu Valley. The tour will take them to places like Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Boudhanath Stupa. Day 03: Flight or Drive to Pokhara

On the third day, the trekker has the option to choose between a flight or a drive to Pokhara. The flight takes around 25 minutes, while the drive can take up to 6-7 hours. If the trekker chooses to drive, they will have the opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of Nepal, passing through small towns and villages along the way. After reaching Pokhara, they will check into their hotel and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 04: Trek from Pokhara to Dhampus

The fourth day of the Mardi Himal trek is when the actual trekking begins. The trekker will start their journey from Pokhara to Dhampus, which is located at an altitude of 1600m. This leg of the trek will take around 4-5 hours of walking, and the trekker will pass through lush green forests and small villages. They will get to observe the lifestyle of the local people, and interact with them, gaining a deeper understanding of their culture.

Day 05: Trek from Dhampus to Forest Camp

On the fifth day, the trek continues from Dhampus to Forest Camp, which is located at an altitude of 2480m. The trek takes around 5-6 hours of walking, and the trekker will pass through dense forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo. They will also have the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Himalayas, as they take in the breathtaking views.

Day 06: Trek from Forest Camp to Low Camp

The sixth day of the trek is dedicated to trekking from Forest Camp to Low Camp, which is located at an altitude of 3150m. This leg of the trek will take around 5-6 hours of walking, and the trekker will pass through lush green forests. They will also witness the panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, and the experience will be truly exhilarating.

Day 07: Trek from Low Camp to High Camp

The seventh day of the trek will begin with a trek from Low Camp to High Camp, which is located at an altitude of 4100 meters. The trek will take around 5-6 hours and will take the trekkers through some of the most beautiful landscapes of the region. The trek will offer some stunning views of the Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Annapurna ranges.

As the trekkers gain altitude, they may experience a drop in temperature and may find it difficult to breathe due to the high altitude. Therefore, it is important for the trekkers to take adequate rest breaks and stay hydrated throughout the trek. Once the trekkers reach High Camp, they will have the opportunity to explore the surrounding areas and acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 08: Rest Day at High Camp

The eighth day of the trek is set aside as a rest day at High Camp (4100m), where the trekkers can explore the surroundings and acclimate to the altitude. It is highly recommended for trekkers to take a rest day to avoid altitude sickness and to give their body time to adjust to the high altitude.

On this day, the trekkers can explore the surrounding areas and take in the magnificent views of the Himalayas. They can also go on short hikes to nearby areas to get a better view of the mountains. The rest day will also allow the trekkers to regain their strength and energy for the remaining days of the trek.

Day 09: Descent from High Camp to Siding Village

On the ninth day of the trek, the trekkers will start their descent from High Camp to Siding Village (1280m), which will take around 5-6 hours of walking. The trek will take them through lush green forests, and they will have the opportunity to see the panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges. The descent will be gradual and the trekkers will feel a drop in altitude and temperature as they make their way down.

Once the trekkers reach Siding Village, they will have the opportunity to rest and relax. Siding Village is a small village located in the Annapurna region and is home to the Gurung community. The village offers a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle and culture of the Gurung people, and trekkers can interact with the locals and learn more about their customs and traditions.

Day 10: Trek from Siding Village to Pokhara

The tenth day of the trek is dedicated to a trek from Siding Village to Pokhara which will take around 4-5 hours of walking. The trek will take the trekkers through beautiful landscapes, and they will have the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Himalayas.

Once the trekkers reach Pokhara, they can rest and relax at their hotel or explore the city. Pokhara is a popular tourist destination and is known for its beautiful lakes, temples, and stunning mountain views. The city also offers a range of activities such as paragliding, boating, and hiking, and the trekkers can indulge in these activities if they have some time to spare.

Day 11: Flight or Drive back to Kathmandu

On the eleventh day of the trek, the trekkers will take either a flight or drive back to Kathmandu, which will take 25 minutes by flight or 6-7 hours by drive. After reaching Kathmandu, the trekkers can explore the city or do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs.

Day 12: Departure from Kathmandu

On the final day of the Mardi Himal trek, the trekker will depart from Kathmandu and make their way back home. They will be transferred to the airport by a representative or a tour guide. Before leaving, the trekker can explore the city and visit some famous landmarks such as Durbar Square, Thamel, or the Garden of Dreams.
