Mount Annapurna expedition would not be an easy job. For this, previous mountaineering experience of a peak of at least 6000 meters is mandatory. Mount Annapurna is 8,091 meters high and is regarded as one of the extremely technical peaks among other 8000m high mountains. The one who is daring to opt for Mount Annapurna expedition should have high level of patience and endurance.

More precisely, one must be steady, strong and should be habituated to extreme winter. Also, it would be a wise decision to take permission from doctors and prescribed medications. Altitude sickness would be something one would generally encounter so you must take the related medications along.

Regarding the best time to go for this very adventure, September and October would be the best option. The mountain climbing on autumn season leaves you breathless. The splendid views of mountains and quality weather are just magnificent.

Peak climbing is not encouraged during other seasons due to various reasons. Since summer concurs with monsoon season, the mountain climbing would be wet and slippery even though the weather would be comparatively warm.

Best Season:

The best season for Annapurna Expedition is during the spring season (March to May) and the autumn season (September to November). These seasons have more stable weather conditions and lower chances of precipitation or storms. The temperatures during these seasons are also more moderate and comfortable for climbing

Permits & Regulations:

  1. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): All trekkers and climbers entering the Annapurna Conservation Area are required to have an ACAP permit.
  2. Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) card: TIMS card is mandatory for all trekkers who are planning to trek in the Annapurna region.
  3. Mountaineering permit: Mountaineers are required to obtain a mountaineering permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association.
  4. Liaison Officer: Mountaineering teams are required to have a liaison officer with them during the expedition.

 

Day to Day Itinerary

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative from the tour company and transferred to your hotel for check-in. This day is usually kept free for travelers to rest and recover from any jet lag they may experience.

These two days will be spent in Kathmandu for official procedures, which may include obtaining necessary permits and completing paperwork for the trek. During this time, you may also have the opportunity to explore Kathmandu and its cultural sites.

Pokhara to Tatopani by jeep On day four, you will take a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then travel by jeep to Tatopani. The journey takes approximately six hours by jeep.

You will continue your journey by jeep from Tatopani to Lete. The journey takes around six hours by jeep, and you will climb to an altitude of 1189m.

This day will be spent resting in Lete to acclimatize to the altitude. Acclimatization is an essential part of any high altitude trek, and it is essential to take rest days to allow your body to adjust to the change in altitude.

You will begin your trek and head towards Thulo Bugin. The trek takes around 6-7 hours, and you will climb to an altitude of around 3400m

You will continue your trek and cross Thulo Bugin Pass. The pass is located at an altitude of around 3975m, and the trek takes around 7-8 hours.

On this day, you will continue your trek and reach Mristi Khola, a river in the region. This part of the trek will be scenic, as you’ll be surrounded by beautiful landscapes and nature.

You will continue your trek and reach the base camp of the mountain. This is the starting point of the climb, and it’s where you’ll set up your camp. You’ll spend some time here acclimatizing to the altitude and preparing for the climb.

These days will be spent climbing the mountain. Mountaineering is a physically and mentally demanding activity, and the climb will require a great deal of focus, endurance, and skill. The climb will be challenging, but it will also be an incredible adventure and an opportunity to push yourself to new limits.

After completing the climb, you will trek back to Thulo Bugin. This will be a chance to reflect on your experience and enjoy the beautiful surroundings once again.

You will continue your trek and head back to Lete. This will be a chance to rest and recover after the climb.

You will travel by jeep from Lete to Tatopani. This will be a comfortable and convenient mode of transportation, as you’ll be able to rest and relax during the journey.

You will take a jeep from Tatopani to Pokhara. This is a scenic drive through beautiful countryside and mountains, and you’ll have the opportunity to take in the stunning scenery one last time.

You will take a flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. This will be a chance to rest and relax after the trek and climb, and to prepare for your departure.

This day will be free for you to explore Kathmandu or relax. Kathmandu is a vibrant city with many cultural and historical sites to explore, and you’ll have the opportunity to experience the local culture and cuisine.

You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight back home. This will mark the end of your incredible adventure in Nepal, and you’ll return home with memories and experiences that will stay with you for a lifetime.
