Best Season:

The best season for a Mt. Yala Peak Climbing is generally in the autumn months of September to November. During this time, the weather is typically clear and stable, with lower chances of rainfall and snowfall, which makes for better climbing conditions.

Permit & Regulations:

  1. Langtang National Park Permit: This permit is required for all visitors to the Langtang region, which includes Mt. Yala, and costs around USD 30 per person. It can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board or from the Nepal Immigration Office in Kathmandu.
  2. Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) Climbing Permit: This permit is also required for all mountaineering expeditions in Nepal, including Mt. Yala. The fee for the NMA climbing permit for Mt. Yala is based on the number of climbers in the group and ranges from USD 250 for a solo climber to USD 125 per person for a group of 7 climbers or more.
Day to Day Itinerary

On the first day of your Yala peak climbing expedition, you will arrive in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, and be transferred to your hotel. After settling in, you will attend a briefing session with the expedition team to discuss the details of the climb, safety measures, and other important information. The team will make all the necessary arrangements for the climb, including permits, equipment, and logistics. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and clarify any doubts you may have. You will spend the night in Kathmandu.

This day is reserved for leisure time in Kathmandu, where you can explore the city’s cultural and historical landmarks, visit temples and monasteries, or go shopping for trekking gear. You can also take an excursion around the Kathmandu valley to explore the nearby towns and villages, experience local cuisine, or simply relax and prepare for the upcoming climb. The expedition team will assist you with any last-minute preparations or equipment rentals you may need. You will spend the night in Kathmandu.

On the third day, you will start your journey towards Syabru Besi, a small town in the Rasuwa District of Nepal, where the trek to Yala peak begins. The drive takes around 7-8 hours and passes through beautiful landscapes and mountainous terrain, offering stunning views of the Himalayas. Upon reaching Syabru Besi, you will have the chance to rest and acclimatize to the altitude. You will spend the night in Syabru Besi.

After breakfast, you will start your trek towards Lama Hotel, located at an altitude of 2480 meters. The trek takes around 6 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding forests and landscapes. You will cross the Langtang River and climb uphill through dense forests, passing through several small villages and encountering the local Tamang community, known for their rich culture and traditions. You will spend the night in Lama Hotel.

On this day, you will continue your trek towards Langtang valley, located at an altitude of 3541 meters. The trek takes around 6-7 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges, including Langtang Lirung and Dorje Lakpa. You will cross several suspension bridges over the Langtang River and hike through dense forests, which gradually give way to open meadows and pastures. You will spend the night in Langtang valley.

This day is reserved for rest and acclimatization to the altitude. You can explore the surrounding area, hike to nearby viewpoints, or simply relax and enjoy the stunning scenery. The Langtang valley is known for its unique biodiversity, and you may encounter rare species of flora and fauna. You can also interact with the local community and learn about their way of life. You will spend the night in Langtang valley.

After breakfast, you will continue your trek towards Kyangjin Gompa, located at an altitude of 3900 meters. The trek takes around 3-4 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. You will pass by several small streams and waterfalls, and may also encounter yaks grazing on the slopes. As you approach Kyangjin Gompa, you will see the famous monastery and the cheese factory, which produces delicious cheese from yak milk. You will spend the night in Kyangjin Gompa.

This day is another rest day to help you acclimatize to the altitude. You can explore the surrounding area and enjoy the stunning scenery. There are several optional activities you can do, such as climbing Tserko Ri (4985m), which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Langtang range. You can also visit the yak cheese factory and learn how the cheese is made. In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Kyangjin Gompa. You will spend the night in Kyangjin Gompa.

After breakfast, you will begin the climb towards the Yala Base Camp, located at an altitude of 5033 meters. The trail is steep and rocky, and you will pass through several small streams and glaciers. As you ascend, you will see stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Naya Kanga. The climb takes around 5-6 hours and is physically demanding, so you will need to pace yourself and take plenty of breaks. You will spend the night at the Yala Base Camp.

On this day, you will start early in the morning to climb to the summit of Yala peak. The climb takes around 8-9 hours and is quite challenging, but the panoramic views from the top make it all worth it. You will need to use crampons and ropes to climb the steep, icy slopes, and the final stretch requires some technical skills. Once you reach the summit at an altitude of 5500 meters, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including Shishapangma and Gangchempo. After taking some photos and enjoying the views, you will begin your descent back to Kyangjin Gompa, which takes around 3-4 hours. You will spend the night in Kyangjin Gompa.

After breakfast, you will begin your descent towards Ghora Tabela. The trek takes around 6-7 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes. You will pass through beautiful forests and streams, and may also encounter some wildlife, such as langur monkeys and musk deer. The trail can be steep and rocky at times, so you will need to be careful with your footing. You will spend the night in Ghora Tabela.

On this day, you will continue your descent towards Syabru Besi, the small town where you started the trek. The trek takes around 5-6 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges. You will spend the night in Syabru Besi.

On the final day of the itinerary, you will drive back to Kathmandu from Syabru Besi. The drive takes around 7-8 hours, passing through beautiful landscapes and mountainous terrain. Once you reach Kathmandu, you will have the option to explore the city or do some shopping. You will spend the night in Kathmandu.

This is the last day of the itinerary. You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight from Kathmandu.

  • We have daily departures for this trip from March to May and from mid-September to mid-December. You can type in the number of passengers to book a reservation and select a date that is convenient for you. Due to group size, we never cancel a trip once you’ve made a reservation. If you would rather join the group, we will add more travelers on the selected date. You can let us know once you make a reservation or earlier.
