The Nagarkot Day Hike starts off from Kathmandu itself. You will be driven to the village of Shanku where the hike starts. After a 3.5 to 4 hour walk through rice and paddy fields, you will reach the viewpoint of Nagarkot. Views from the top are amazing and picturesque. 7:00 AM: Start from Kathmandu

You can start your journey to Nagarkot from Kathmandu early in the morning. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours, depending on the traffic. It is recommended to leave early in the morning to avoid traffic and to reach Nagarkot by breakfast time. You can hire a private car or take a public bus to Nagarkot.

8:30 AM: Breakfast in Nagarkot

After reaching Nagarkot, you can have breakfast at one of the many restaurants that offer a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Nagarkot is famous for its stunning sunrise and sunset views of the Himalayas. Some of the popular breakfast options include local Nepali dishes like Thakali set, Tibetan bread, and pancakes. You can also choose from a variety of tea and coffee options.

9:30 AM: Hike to Nagarkot View Tower

After breakfast, you can start your hike to the Nagarkot View Tower. The trail is well-marked and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. The hike is relatively easy and suitable for all fitness levels. The trail passes through lush forests, terraced fields, and small villages. You can enjoy the scenic views of the Himalayas, and the fresh mountain air will rejuvenate your senses.

11:30 AM: Nagarkot View Tower

Once you reach the Nagarkot View Tower, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest. The Nagarkot View Tower is a popular viewpoint located at an altitude of 2,195 meters above sea level. On a clear day, you can see a panoramic view of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Dorje Lakpa. You can spend some time taking pictures and admiring the scenery.

12:30 PM: Hike back to Nagarkot

After spending some time at the Nagarkot View Tower, start your hike back to Nagarkot. The hike down takes about an hour, and you can enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

1:30 PM: Lunch in Nagarkot

Once you reach Nagarkot, you can have lunch at one of the many restaurants in the area. Nagarkot has several restaurants that offer local and international cuisine. You can try some of the local Nepali dishes like Dal Bhat, Momos, and Thukpa. You can also choose from a variety of international cuisine like Italian, Chinese, and Indian.

2:30 PM: Explore Nagarkot

After lunch, you can spend some time exploring Nagarkot. You can visit the nearby temples like Nagarkot Temple and Changu Narayan Temple, which are popular among locals and tourists alike. You can also stroll through the village and interact with the locals to learn more about their culture and way of life. If you are interested in shopping, you can visit the local markets and buy some souvenirs like handicrafts, pashmina shawls, and local spices.

4:00 PM: Return to Kathmandu

Finally, you can drive back to Kathmandu, enjoying the views of the Himalayas as you go. You should arrive in Kathmandu by early evening. You can take a public bus or hire a private car to return to Kathmandu. Once you reach Kathmandu, you can rest and relax after a day of hiking and sightseeing.
